Profile of skills and competences |
Composition of the qualification The common modules of the qualification are serving at a bar and bar sales and service functions. In addition, one of the following modules must also be selected: bar manager functions, wine waiting and entrepreneurship in the hotel and catering field. Vocational skills and competences required for completion of the qualification Those who have completed the qualification shall: -be familiar with the non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverage products sold in a bar -be familiar with bar machinery, equipment, basic implements and glasses -command the elements of serving meals and know how to present, recommend, prepare and serve Finnish and international cocktails in a variety of service situations -be able to manage fluently in English and reasonably well in some other foreign language in service situations, in addition to Finnish or Swedish -be familiar with the principles of pricing and thinking in terms of contribution margins -know how to handle means of payment and prepare sales accounts -know how to perform the routines relating to their department |

Those who have completed the qualification may work in customer service assignments in different types of hotels and restaurants. |

Officially recognised ways of obtaining the certificate |
The qualification is obtained by demonstrating vocational skills in competence tests. National qualification requirements have been defined in core curricula drawn up by the National Board of Education. Education and training leading to the qualification is arranged when necessary. This involves drawing up an individual study plan which includes a learning plan and a competence test plan. |
Entry requirements Qualifications may be completed irrespective of how the vocational skills and competences have been obtained. Additional information The organisation and supervision of competence tests is the responsibility of Qualification Committees.
